Partner & Distributor Shortlist

Focus your partner search on companies that match your commercial needs.

A shortlist with reasons, not a collection of names

Which potential partners deserve a closer look, and why? Start with what a partner must contribute: customer reach, sales effort, delivery capability, technical support or another defined role.

This project turns that requirement into a prioritised shortlist with agreed selection criteria, capability observations and a recommended approach. It explains why each candidate merits attention, rather than simply identifying companies in a related sector.

The shortlist you can work from

Three connected components make the research usable for your next partner decision.

Selection brief

The required partner role and agreed criteria used to assess candidates. Customer reach, sales effort, delivery capability and technical support are considered according to what your offer needs, rather than treated as interchangeable strengths.

Prioritised candidate profiles

Relevant customer and sector coverage, apparent capabilities, available evidence and questions still to resolve. Each profile explains the commercial relevance of the candidate and the basis for giving it further attention.

Approach recommendation

Which candidates merit further work, why and what a first conversation should establish. The market landscape can inform the rationale; the output is a focused shortlist, not an exhaustive national database.

Match the brief before making the approach

  1. Define the partner role

Clarify the customers you want to reach and the responsibilities a partner would take on. Agree the criteria and commercial requirements that will guide the research.

  2. Research and screen

Review candidate information against the brief, recording capability observations and the evidence available. Keep gaps and uncertainties visible where the material does not support a firm conclusion.

  3. Prioritise and recommend

Bring the findings together, explain the selection rationale and suggest a practical approach. Set out the questions that a subsequent conversation would need to resolve.

Outreach, introductions and meetings can be added to the agreed scope. Where research has not involved a direct approach, candidate interest remains to be established.

Shape the assignment

Share your offer, target customers, territory, partner responsibilities and any candidates already known. Relevant competing brands and commercial requirements help define a useful selection brief.

We tailor candidate coverage and depth, geographic reach, partner types and whether outreach is included. We agree the criteria, research depth, shortlist coverage, timing and fee with you.

The result is a usable starting point for your own approaches or a separately agreed engagement programme.
