Who can apply?+
The programme is for bachelor’s and master’s students and graduates, from Malaysia and abroad. Tell us your study stage, interests and availability so we can consider the relevant work and placement arrangements. Every placement requires a minimum commitment of three months.
How long do I need to commit?+
A minimum of three months. This allows time to understand the work, develop through feedback and make a useful contribution. Please include your proposed start and end dates; placements shorter than three months are not offered under this programme.
Are grades the main selection criterion?+
No. Academic results provide context, but we place greater emphasis on curiosity, critical thinking, initiative and willingness to develop. Use your application to show how you approached something, what you learned and how you act on feedback.
Do I need prior professional experience?+
You can demonstrate relevant thinking through academic, personal, voluntary or group work. Explain your own contribution and the decisions behind it. The knowledge or technical skills needed will depend on the track and the work involved.
Can I indicate a preferred track?+
Yes. Tell us which work interests you, why and what you would like to develop. The tracks are areas of contribution, rather than guaranteed places or a rotation through all five. Work is matched to project needs and your abilities.
Will I work with clients?+
Contributing to an assignment can involve research, preparation and follow-through without attending an external meeting. Suitable involvement depends on project needs, confidentiality, performance and readiness, with guidance from the team. Client access and external meetings are not guaranteed.
How will I receive guidance and feedback?+
You receive direction on the task and what a useful result should achieve. Review and direct feedback help you improve accuracy, usefulness and presentation. Responsibility grows with your understanding and readiness to contribute.
What happens after I apply?+
Submit the online application with your CV, preferred placement dates, area of interest and two short written responses. We review applications against current project needs and the programme’s practical requirements. Depending on the placement, the process may include application review, a practical question, an interview, project matching and an offer. No particular stage or outcome is guaranteed.
What are the practical placement arrangements?+
Every placement requires at least three months. Pay, location and university requirements are agreed individually for each placement, taking account of the assignment and applicable work or immigration requirements. Include your proposed dates and any placement requirements in your application, and discuss working arrangements and availability with the team.
Could the internship lead to a role at TAPiO?+
Yes, the programme is also one way we meet potential future colleagues. A longer-term role can be considered where your contribution, mutual interest and an appropriate opportunity in the team align. The placement is a chance for both sides to understand how they work together; an ongoing role is not guaranteed.
