Governance and Ethics

Trust is built in how we work.

When you enter a new market, you rely on more than advice. You rely on sound judgement, careful handling of information and people who represent your interests responsibly.

These are the standards we expect of our work, our relationships and the way we support your decisions.

What you should be able to rely on.

Good advice should help you make a sound decision, not simply confirm what you hoped to hear. These expectations matter in the research we present, the partners we recommend and the way we act on your behalf.

Straight answers, including the difficult ones.

We distinguish established facts from assumptions and professional judgement. Important claims need an appropriate source and context, including when the information was current and what remains unverified.

Where the evidence suggests a different route, further checking or a reason not to proceed, that belongs in the advice. An introduction is not a commitment, and an opportunity is not a guaranteed result.

Recommendations that serve your objectives.

The right recommendation should fit your needs, scale and circumstances. Relevant relationships or commercial interests that could affect a recommendation need to be identified and addressed.

You should understand the scope, fees and any relevant referral or success-fee arrangements before the corresponding work begins. Familiarity with a partner is useful, but it is not a substitute for suitability.

Care with information entrusted to us.

Your plans, contacts and commercial information are not material for casual circulation. The agreed mandate and applicable confidentiality obligations should determine what can be shared, with whom and for what purpose.

The same care applies when preparing introductions, involving specialists or communicating about an assignment. Confidential client work should not become public marketing material without the necessary authority.

Responsible engagement. Respectful conduct.

Local relationships help us understand context, prepare properly and engage with relevant people. They do not replace formal processes or justify promises of special treatment.

We do not offer or accept bribes or improper advantages. We expect honest representation and respectful conduct in dealings with clients, colleagues, partners and institutions, including when views differ or commercial pressure increases.

Technology and judgement

AI-assisted.
Human-verified.

Technology can help organise information, compare sources and develop questions. It does not replace responsibility for the advice we give.

Material claims require appropriate sources and human review. Uncertainty should remain visible rather than being hidden behind a confident answer.

Confidentiality obligations also apply when digital tools are used. Client-sensitive material should only be used in digital tools where that use is authorised and consistent with the agreed confidentiality obligations.

Clear responsibility, from the outset.

Before work begins, you should understand what TAPiO is being asked to do, who is responsible and which decisions remain with you.

The assignment
The objectives, scope, deliverables, fees and relevant exclusions should be clear. Work outside that scope needs an agreed basis, rather than an assumption.
The people involved
You should know your TAPiO lead and the role of any independent specialist. Specialist work belongs with appropriately qualified professionals, with responsibilities clear within the agreed engagement.
The decisions
Authority to approach external parties, share information or incur costs should follow the agreed mandate. Our role is to support informed decisions, not make commitments on your behalf without the necessary authority.
