Client situation
A manufacturing investment required employees with specialist production skills. The relevant knowledge was held overseas, while local workers needed training suited to the investing employer’s requirements.
Sending employees to Europe for weeks or months at a time would create practical difficulties, including language barriers and repeated dependence on overseas training capacity.
What was getting in the way
The project needed more than access to individual training courses. It required instructors who could bring specialist knowledge back to Malaysia, suitable vocational content and an institutional setting for local delivery.
TAPiO contribution
TAPiO helped identify and connect industry and training partners around a train-the-trainer approach. Malaysian instructors could acquire the specialist knowledge overseas and then transfer it to employees in Malaysia.
We supported the development of the local training arrangements and vocational curriculum around the needs of the investing employer. The emphasis was on bringing the knowledge into local delivery, rather than repeatedly sending each group of employees overseas.
What changed
A dedicated training institute was established in Malaysia. TAPiO contributed to the partner coordination, instructor-development approach and curriculum planning behind the initiative.
The resulting framework created a local foundation for developing the skills required by the proposed manufacturing activity.
