The opportunity

TAPiO is looking for a developer who can connect AI capabilities with practical business needs. The opportunity is to build tools that help people work with information, investigate questions and complete repeatable tasks more effectively.

You will work with colleagues who understand the commercial problem, then turn that understanding into software that can be tested, used and improved. Clear reasoning, dependable engineering and attention to the limits of AI are central to the role.

What you will work on

  • Build AI-assisted research and document-processing tools, including extraction, classification and structured outputs.
  • Develop retrieval and search workflows that help users trace answers back to useful source material.
  • Connect model APIs, business systems and data sources through maintainable integrations and workflow automation.
  • Create usable interfaces and services, taking a prototype through testing into a dependable working tool.
  • Evaluate accuracy, failure cases, response time and running cost, with clear human review where the task requires it.
  • Write tests and documentation, handle data and credentials carefully, and improve tools in response to user feedback.

What you bring

  • Practical programming ability in Python or TypeScript/JavaScript, demonstrated through working software.
  • Experience integrating APIs, handling structured data and using version control.
  • Hands-on experience with language models, prompt design and evaluating generated outputs.
  • An understanding of retrieval, databases or document-processing workflows, or strong related engineering experience.
  • The ability to investigate failures, explain technical trade-offs and make work understandable to non-technical colleagues.
  • Curiosity, ownership and the discipline to test whether a tool solves the intended problem.

Show us why this makes sense.

Complete our guided application form, share your CV and answer two questions about your motivation and a relevant example of your work. Tell us why TAPiO and this role interest you, what you could contribute and what you would like to develop. Your answers replace a separate cover letter.

Write in your own voice. AI can help with grammar, translation or structure, but the motivation, examples and reasoning should be yours. Be prepared to discuss anything you submit.

Include a GitHub, portfolio or demo link if available. Describe one project: the problem, what you built, your own contribution and how you tested whether it worked. Share only code or material you are entitled to disclose.
