Client situation
An automotive manufacturer needed an import-related licence linked to specific incentives before it could proceed with planned vehicle imports into Malaysia. The process had remained unresolved for more than a year, holding up a commercial programme the company was ready to implement.
What was getting in the way
The matter was not reaching the appropriate decision-making channels. Differences in communication style and expectations also meant that the company and the relevant department were not reaching a shared understanding of the issue. Continued exchanges had not resolved the impasse.
TAPiO’s contribution
TAPiO examined the issue and used its established professional relationships to identify and engage the responsible counterparts. We clarified the manufacturer’s position, established what needed to be addressed and helped both sides work through the misunderstandings that had prevented progress.
Our role combined local institutional knowledge with cross-cultural mediation. By bringing the matter to the appropriate parties and improving communication between them, TAPiO helped move the existing application towards resolution.
What changed
The licence was completed in 18 working days. The manufacturer could proceed with the vehicle imports it had planned more than a year earlier.
The intervention addressed the practical cause of the delay: how the case was being communicated and progressed between the parties.
